The first mountaineering success of BluEmu expedition in 2021: Pico de Orizaba (5636m) was climbed! On Monday, January 11, one third of the team, despite demanding conditions (wind, snow and generally winter scenery), stood at the top. Others reached the glacier, breaking their own altitude record in the glacier mountains. Congratulations to all participants and thanks to the Mexican guides who supported the teams.
Our trip to Mexico was not only about mountain activities. While visiting such an exotic part of the world, we wanted to enjoy its cultural, historical and natural richness. So we visited cities and towns, picturesque and full of monuments : Mexico City with the nearby pyramids in Teotihuacan, Puebla, Cuernavaca, Taxco or Tlalpujahua, we bathed in the ocean in Acapulco, we watched the monarch butterflies wintering. In this pandemic year, we especially appreciated the opportunity to break out of Europe, tied by lockdowns, and to taste the mountains and the exotic. Another edition of the expedition to Pico de Orizaba already at Easter.
