Do you hike in the mountains, or spend your timr in areas distant from civilization? Or maybe you are planning high-mountain trekking in a distant country? Do you know how to help if one of your friends has an accident and immediate help from professional rescuers is not possible? Will you be able to save your friend ‘s life? Can you recognize the symptoms of altitude sickness? Can you complete a first aid kit for a mountain trip so that you have everything you need in it, and at the same time you know how to use it when necessary?
If these questions bother you, the medical preparation for alpine expeditions course is a must-have when preparing to explore mountains on your own. You will learn how to react in an emergency, how to provide first aid during an accident, what medications to give to the patient.
The course is intended for all tourists who are already familiar with the mountains, even not high ones, and who have the necessary equipment for trekking and their own basic first aid kit.
The training is conducted by Katarzyna Misztal – a doctor, mountain rescuer of the Krynica Group of GOPR, a graduate of postgraduate studies at the Jagiellonian University in the field of “extreme medicine and travel medicine”. She gained practical experience in the Polish and European mountains, as well as in the High Atlas, Tienszan, Kilimanjaro massif and Karakoram.
The first edition will be in May, the next one in June, then the next ones.
More details, as well as dates and the application form, can be found on the course website.
