Comparing to what is happening in the Alps this season, as well as many other mountain ranges, the situation in the Caucasus, it is not bad. Of course, you can see the effects of global warming, but there are much less dangerous phenomena, and the difference between the current season and the previous one in terms of, for example, melting of glaciers, is not very big. In addition, from August to the beginning of September the weather in the region was sunny and stable. This allowed us to take full advantage of this year’s Caucasian season.
In the second decade of August, an expedition set out to Georgia to climb Kazbek. Acclimatization was quick and smooth, thanks to which the group managed to reach the summit in a perfect weather. On August 18, around 10:00AM, all expedition members stood on the summit. After the descent, the weather was still good, which allowed the team to participate in two optional trips before returning to Tbilisi: the trip to the Truso Valley and to Juta. We sincerely recommend Kazbek in such wonderful weather and both these treks as well. And of course we congratulate all expedition members.
