Description

Gran Paradiso is a low four-thousander located in the picturesque region Italian Alps. It has four summits. The highest of them is 4061m a.s.l. high,. We will climb the nearby summit called Madonna (4052m a.s.l.), which is available for tourists. The route on Gran Paradiso is relatively easy and is not very strenuous. On the other hand, it is not boring: we will traverse the glacier, and in the upper parts will climb the rocky ridge requiring rope belay.

Gran Paradiso is the perfect destination for persons who want to try glacier mountineering for the first time. It is a good occasion to practice walking in crampons and with rope. A short and not too far, yet ambitious trip to Gran Paradiso can also be recommended for those who want to climb their first four-thousand-meter peak and to check their body’s reaction to altitude.
