In the second decade of July, the BluEmu expedition went to the Monte Rosa massif. The trip was guided by our Monte Rosa specialist Robert Róg. The goal was to ascend as many four-thousand-meter peaks as members’ fitness level and weather allowed. While there was no shortage of fitness in a group of three participants, the weather traditionally left much to be desired this year. A huge storm caught us even before going to the mountains. Fortunately, we waited it out in the car at the lower station of the cable car. Despite the initial fears, and even hesitation, whether it would be possible to climb into the mountains at all, it was not that bad in the end. The expedition ended its activity with as many as four four-thousanders on the account. Over the next three days, we managed to climb:

  • Piramide Vincent (4215 m n.p.m.)
  • Balmenhorn (4167 m n.p.m.)
  • Ludwigshohe (4341 m n.p.m.)

and the highest one, with the highest mountain hut in Europe on its top –

  • Punta Gnifetti with the Margherita shelter (4554m above sea level)

Congratulations to all participants of the expedition!
