Description

If you are already familiar with easy trekking and you are looking for new destinations, the trek in Maramures Mountains and Rhodnian Mountains in Romania is something for you. Still untouched by human and free from tourists’ crowds, the mountains of northern Romania are the perfect place to feel the power of nature and enjoy its beauty.

The treks have been designed so that everyone can meet them. Trips are about two days long, with one night in tents in the mountains. Before and after each trip we sleep in pensions or refuges, where you can relax, dry out and prepare for the next hike. In addition, most luggage is transported by car from one base to another, so that participants do not have to carry heavy backpacks.

We will hike through the most attractive mountain regions of northern Romania. We will go through hills of Maramures Mountains, covered with forests and picturesque pastures. Feirst we will visit Toroiaga massif. It is known for the former minerals’ mine, with its corridors hollowed deep inside the mountain, depriving the massif of water. The effect is the lack of forest, which was replaced by colorful flowery meadows. We will also visit the picturesque Vaserul valley with a narrow-gauge railway which we can take a short ride on. The second part of the trip has a more high-altitude character. We will visit Rodnian Mountains, located on the opposite side of the valley of Vişeu (Borsha) river. The landscape here has a more alpine character. We will climb the highest peak of Rodnian Mountains – Pietros. On the way back to Poland we may visit one of the most fascinating tourist sites of Romania – the Happy Cemetery in Săpânţa.
